Fencing failures

Traditionally fencing has consisted of using timber that is readily available and often this has been hard woods etc but more recently pine is a much more economical option, but if this timber is cut in a way where the untreated internal core is exposed to the elements then post life will decrease along with its overall strength.

Some examples are shown below:

This is often seen in situations where a pressure point has been created due to poor design and has caused the post to snap or has started to prematurely rot and weaken allowing the effectiveness of the fence to be reduced or fail completely.

Vineyard scenarios are often where we see the full impact of poorly designed and constructed end assemblies because the effects will show through in very dramatic ways and often cause very big headaches along with some much damaged crops and loss in income through crop reduction or increased labour costs, or both!!

This proves that getting it right the first time can be pretty handy!
